Filming in Spain failed

It hasn't been an easy decision. But let's look at some facts here. After nearly 3 months in Spain:
I have contacted all the film companies in Madrid, which I'm interested in.
One (from around 80) replied saying more less that audiovisual industry in this country is in a terrible state and I will be better off in UK. The number of people I met said exactly the same.
I haven't managed to get in touch with any independent filmmakers whatsoever, maybe I was looking in the wrong places or maybe independent film scene in this country simply doesn't exist...

This brings me to the conclusion that apart from big international productions, there is nothing going on in Spain for people like me. And yes - I've decided to leave, which is a shame, because during this time I really loved the city and I felt I could stay here longer if I could only do what I do.

But the times are not easy, everybody is running like headless chicken screaming "Recession!" and everywhere is hard for a freelance filmmaker to get employment, even though I just won a big film festival in Poland.

So what's next ? Well the plan B is simple - I'm gonna stay here till September and travel. Keep practicing the language, keep meeting new people, seeing new places. I'm just about to come back to Warsaw, get my moto (Suzuki Burgman 400) and drive through half of Europe here, so exciting things are about to happen.

Of course this blog supposed to be about filming in Spain, but now is gonna be more about getting out of here and filming somewhere else. Oh well. It is not the first dead end I got myself into, and it won't be the last. The idea is to keep going.
